In this post, I am going to explain how to install Inkscape vector graphics software for ubuntu with a few steps.

As you already aware , Inkscape is an open source vector graphics program much like CorelDraw graphics suite. Inkscape uses W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format, which includes lot of features such as 3D Boxes, Spirals, Freehandlines etc.

let us see how to install inkscape in Ubuntu. This applies to all versions including latest Ubuntu 13.04

1. Open Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T)

 2. Type the following commands  to install Inkscape:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install inkscape

If you are  not comfortable with command line,  you can install Inkscape from Ubuntu Software Center.

Open the Ubuntu Software centre and search for Inkscape. Then click install.
